Har du prøvet nouveau (den frie driver) i stedet for blobben?

Ellers kunne det måske være nok at opgradere grafikkortet. FX5xxx bruger "legacy"-driver.

Desværre virker min afart af Fx 5200 ikke med nouveau. Jeg får et pænt zebrastribet mønster på skærmen, hvorefter den fryser. Mit Fx 5200 bruger ikke legacy driver, men 173-driveren. Ja, jeg kunne opgradere kortet, men comp er helt fra 2004, og det kan nok ikke betale sig. Jeg kan bare ikke få mig til at smide den ud, når den nu kører godt.

Det kan da sagtens betale sig at opgradere grafikkortet i sådan en computer. Hvilke specifikationer har den så finder jeg et billigt grafikkort til dig. Muligvis en RAM opgradering også nu vi er i gang og det er så billigt.

Jeg er selv bosat i Kina men hvis du lige skriver pcens specifikationer får jeg min bror til at kigge der hjemme om vi ikke har noget til at ligge du kan få for en slik. :D

dmidecode --type 17 , skulle gøre det men kan se at din pc siger speed og type er unknown. Så måske bare åbne siden på pcen og tage et kig på selve blokken.

Fedora 15 har nu fået linux 3.0 kernel. Dog kaldet 2.6.40 af hensyn til kompabilitet. jeg ville teste igen med et fuldt opdateret system.

Jeg testede det lige af på en maskine med Gallium 0.4 på NV49 der tidligere havde problemer med 2.6.38-kernen med backportede fixes fra 2.6.39. Det fixede denne maskine der før kørte i fallback mode. Så det er bestemt et forsøg værd.

Dit kort er så et NV34, men det kan jo være der også er fixes til det.

Hm, ja, det kunne godt se ud, som om jeg skulle prøve det. Desværre gik min Fedora 15 installation pludselig ned, så jeg vil skulle nyinstallere og opdatere. Skal lige finde tid...

Det er virkelig dejligt at se hvordan ting kan fixes upstream, også havner det i distributionerne. Ordentlig understøttelse af Clutter/Mutter kræver at bugs først eksponeres. Det var den samme omgang med pulseaudio. Fejl og mangler skal findes først.

Min lille test med en broken NV49 viser at dette kan lade sig gøre.

Jo det er PC3200 jeg prøver lige at høre om jeg ikke har nogle 1gb blokke liggende. Det skal siges jeg bor i Kina og ikke har været i DK i over 2 år så hvad jeg husker jeg har og hvad min bror ikke har stjålet ved jeg ikke.

Men jeg vender lige tilbage hvis der ligger noget.

Til Bill Gates: Fuck! Du havde ret :-) Efter at have lavet en ny installation og kørt update logger jeg ind i en Gnome 3 session med Gnome Shell. Den kører oven i købet ganske godt. Der er lidt "glitter" i Activites mode, når jeg lader musen glide hen over ikonerne, men det er småting.

Jeg så ingen fejl med NV49. Måske er du heldig at de fixer det sidste senere. Fedoras Linux 2.6.40 er jo helt ny. Der er ingen stable releases i 3.0 endnu eller fixes fra disitributionen. Om 14 dage har vi med garanti en nyere kerne.

Ja hvis ikke så glæd jer til sommeren 2012 så bliver der et kæmpe hardware tag selv marked på Linuxin. Min mor plager stadig om hun ikke må smide alle de ting jeg har stående ud. Men der er sikkert en masse her inde som kunne bruge diverse ting til upgrades osv. Så venter til jeg kommer hjem på besøg. Men jeg har meget. godt nok ikke det nyeste men min erfaring siger mig at mange linuxbrugere heller ikke sidder med den nyeste hardware :D
